Strange times we are all living
in at the moment and I do hope that everyone is staying as safe as they can be.
During this pandemic, some are able to work from home which is filling up most
of their day however for many others (including myself) we don’t have that
opportunity to work from home therefore we have to fill up our day slightly
differently.
Weeks ago, I felt stuck in a rut
that I wasn’t being productive enough and felt like I was wasting my day. Fast
forward to now – we are all free to spend our time however we want to, whether
that’s by setting a consistent daily routine or to just lay in bed and binge
watch Disney+, we have so much time on our hands at the moment so choose
whatever you want to do to use up that time and make you happy. With that being
said, here are 7 things which you can get up too during this isolation period
if you wanted…
1. Start a scrapbook
I
have a huge scrapbook which I started back in 2017 and have been filling up
ever since (I officially have 3 pages left before it’s finished). Not only is
scrapbooking a great way to kill time (seriously, I spend hours organising it)
but it’s also a good way of keeping all your memories and adventures into one
big book which you can keep forever. I have whole blog post here on how to get started
with a scrapbook if you want to check it out.
2. Bake, bake, bake
I
love baking, but I don’t do it often as I normally don’t have time. I have
baked a couple of treats over these past weeks and I realised how much I enjoy
baking. So far I’ve made brownies, milk and white chocolate cookies, banana
bread and lemon cheesecake. I want to venture into baking savoury treats too
soon, I found a recipe for homemade sausage rolls and cheese scones which I’ll
be trying too.
3. Play video games
Video
games take up hours of time. My fiancé was finally able to order a Nintendo
Switch last week (they keep going out of stock) for some sort of entertainment
whilst we are stuck inside and honestly it’s one of the best game consoles
we’ve owned in a very long time. It came with the Mario Kart game which we’ve
been playing religiously for hours and it’s made us realise how competitive we
both are. I’ve also been playing Harry Potter Lego game on the Switch too which
I’ve already played before years ago, yet I wanted to re-live the moments.
Another game which I have loved and loved for years is The Sims which I play on
my laptop through Origin, I currently play The Sims 4 and I own some of the
expansion packs too which I have collected over a couple of years. If you want
to do something that will past time, try some of these out if you can.
4. Disney+
Disney+
was released in the UK on 24th March and it couldn’t have come at a
better time. It’s a streaming service which you can either pay £5.99 monthly or
£59.99 for the year, we did the whole year as we pre-ordered it and it was on
offer at the time however if you are a complete Disney freak like myself, you
won’t regret it. It has every single Disney film you can ever imagine on there
as well as some classic Disney channel shows to bring back the childhood
memories like That’s So Raven and Hannah Montana, yes I did binge watch them.
It also includes Marvel films, Star Wars film as well as some Disney+
originals. You will be entertained for hours!
5. Netflix
I’m
sure most people own Netflix. I prefer Netflix for the TV series rather than
films, don’t get me wrong they do have some great films on there but I’m more a
binge watch TV series kind of girl. My fiancé and I finished watching Sex
Education which is officially one of my favourite comedy TV series and I would
100% re-watch. At the moment we are currently watching Prison Break, as we’ve heard
a lot of good things, it’s a huge commitment seeing as its 5 seasons long and
contains 22 episodes for Season 1 & 2 but we have plenty of time.
6. Do a virtual family quiz
As
we aren’t allowed to see our family members at the moment, a great way in which
I’ve been keeping in touch with them is through WhatsApp video call – it’s a
good way of being able to socialise and see them at the same time. We have set
up a weekly family quiz night every Saturday night where each week one of us is
the host and we have to come up with the genres and the questions. It’s similar
to a pub quiz, just over a video call and it’s a very good way of passing some
time and having a bit of fun in the evenings.
7. Organise something
You
know those tasks that we’ve been meaning to do but we NEVER get around to doing
them, as in organising your bathroom cabinet or sorting out the shoe cupboard.
Now is a good time to get as organised as you can and I promise, you will feel
so much better about it afterwards. I recently organised my makeup drawers and
got rid of old/expired makeup, and just made it look overall neater. The next task
I want to tackle is my wardrobe and I also want to clean all of my makeup
brushes and sponges!
That
concludes my list, there are many other things you can be spending your time
doing however these are how I’ve been spending mine! What have you been up to
during this time?
Great list of idea - can't have enough new ones in the mix as I think we have a ways to go
